CPI flays Union Budget for ignoring Puducherry

The Communist Party of India has criticised the Union Budget for ignoring the development needs of Puducherry.

CPI Puducherry secretary A. M Saleem in a statement said the Central government has completely ignored Puducherry . “Bihar got several schemes in the budget. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party JDU is an ally of BJP. Puducherry is also ruled by BJP’s ally AINRC but the territory has been neglected,” he said.

The CPI leader said the budget has ignored the concerns of those living under the Below Poverty Line category. There was nothing new in the budget to alleviate the sufferings of the poor. The Union Government has also ignored the demands of farmers. The farmers have been demanding MSP for crops, he said.

Mr. Saleem said the cut in allocation for MNREGA will impact implementation of the scheme and efforts to provide job opportunity in rural areas of the country.
