Members of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Agricultural Workers’ Union and Farmers Associations jointly participated in a protest against the Union Budget 2025-26. They also burnt the copies of the budget at Annamayya Circle in Nellore on Sunday.
Ahead of the protest, the CITU and leaders of other associations organised a rally from Anil Gardens to Annamayya Circle. According to them, the latest Union Budget is anti-farmer, and is doing great injustice to the agricultural labourers. They called it a pro-corporate budget which favours the rich and appealed to the common people to strongly oppose it.
CITU All India president Hema Latha, All India Agricultural Workers’ Union general secretary B. Venkat, CITU All India treasurer Sai Babu, CITU State president A.V. Nageswara Rao and secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao were some of the key leaders who participated in the protest.
With the State Maha Sabha of CPI(M) set to conclude on Monday, the leaders will organise a rally in Nellore from Atmakuru bus stand at 3 p.m.. Later, a public meeting will be held at V.R. High School ground. CPI(M) Polit Bureau members Brinda Karat, Mariam Alexander Baby, B.V. Raghavulu and A.P. State secretary V. Srinivasa Rao, and Nellore district secretary Moolam Ramesh will take part in the meeting.
