The Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) on Wednesday conducted searches at the residences, offices, and quarries of four individuals arrested in connection with the murder of social activist Jagabar Ali near Thirumayam.
Ali, a resident of Vengaloor village, was run over by a lorry on January 17. It is suspected that he was murdered for his activism against illegal stone quarrying.
Following an investigation, the police arrested five individuals — R. Rasu and R. Ramayya, owners of RR Crushers; Rasu’s son Dinesh; Muruganandham, the lorry owner; and Kasinathan, the driver.
On Wednesday, a CB-CID team led by Inspector Bhuvaneshwari carried out searches at various locations, including the residences, quarries, and financial establishments of Rasu and Ramayya in Thulaiyanur and Valaiyanvayal, as well as Muruganandham’s residence in Thirumayam.
The searches lasted a few hours, with local police providing security.
