The India Vision Institute (IVI), in partnership with Veedol Corporation Limited, launched an eyecare initiative today aimed at supporting underprivileged communities, including fisherfolk, in Chennai. Over 3,000 people across the city will benefit from free vision screenings, with 1,700 pairs of spectacles expected to be distributed. The programme was inaugurated at Nochi Nagar near Marina Beach, where 70 fisherfolk received corrective glasses. Warren Kirby, Member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, praised the initiative for its life-changing impact. As per a press release, IVI CEO Vinod Daniel highlighted the importance of addressing barriers to eye care and improving access to vision health for underserved populations across India.
