Bus driver in Kozhikode arrested allegedly with ganja

The Pantheerankavu police on Thursday (February 6) arrested a private bus driver, P.V. Faijas, on charge of possessing ganja. He was taken into custody from Perumanna bus stand after a police patrol squad reportedly caught him with a locally-made weed cigarette. The police said the man had confessed and his driving licence would be suspended as part of the ongoing investigation.

The squad conducted surprise inspections at various locations after reportedly receiving complaints that some private bus drivers were addicted to pan masala and synthetic drugs.

The bus was reportedly impounded by a police team led by sub-inspector Subhash Chandran and taken to the Pantheerankavu station. The police said the driver had previously been arrested in a criminal case at Perumanna.
