Two burglars sustained fractures to their legs and one sustained minor injuries while trying to flee from the police in the district on Saturday.
Gomathi (45), a resident of Ram Nagar near Muthukalipatti in Rasipuram, reported a theft of 18 sovereign jewels from her house on January 20. Rasipuram police registered a case and special teams were formed to nab the culprits.
In the early hours of Saturday, while a special police team was conducting a vehicle check at Anaipalayam, they signalled a motorcycle carrying three individuals to stop. Upon noticing the police, the three attempted to escape, but the motorcycle skidded, causing all three to fall onto the road. The individuals were identified as G. David, also known as Sundaraj (24), a resident of Srinivasan Street in Chennai; T. Manikandan (47), a resident of Anaikattu in Vellore district; and S. Mani (22), a resident of Old Washermenpet in Chennai.
David and Manikandan sustained fractures to their legs and were admitted to Rasipuram Government Hospital. Police investigations revealed the three were involved in the theft incident at Ram Nagar. Police sources said that there are 12 theft cases against David and 74 theft cases against Manikandan across the state. The police are investigating further.
