Assistance given to poor children

District Collector A. K. Kamal Kishore handed over financial assistance to 31 disadvantaged children here on Saturday.

He said the assistance of ₹10,000 each being given through the District Child Protection Unit would benefit 15 children who had lost both parents, two physically challenged children, two children of differently-abled parents, two children of prison inmates and six abandoned children under the care of guardians. An assistance of ₹5,000 each is given to four single parent children.

The Collector thanked the Small Mines and Stone Quarry Workers’ Union and Courtallam Rotary Club for sponsoring the financial assistance and appealed to the private organisations to donate liberally for taking care of the deprived children.
