India’s famous and historic Arasavilli Sri Suryanarayana Swamy temple witnessed an unprecedented rush of pilgrims on the day of Ratha Saptami which is the biggest festival in the temple town of Srikakulam on Tuesday (February 4, 2025).

Hundreds of devotees thronged the temple and waited patiently in the queue lines to offer prayers to the Sun God on the occasion of Surya Jayanthi which is birthday of the presiding deity. This is is the day when the Sun, the source of energy for all life forms, changes direction, moving from southeast to northeast.
Principal Secretary of Endowments department Vinay Chand offered pattuvastrams on behalf of the State government which declared Ratha saptami as a three-day State festival. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and other public representatives attended for Ksheerabhisekham which was performed to the deity by the chief priest Ippili Shankar Sarma.
Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar, Superintendent of Police K.V.Maheswar Reddy and other officials monitored the arrangements for the festival.
