The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday, took certain key decisions that would benefit women from the BC, SC, ST, and minority communities.
Addressing the media after the meeting, I&PR Minister K. Parthasarathy said the Cabinet cleared the proposal to provide power to the women entrepreneurs for five years at a subsidised price of ₹1.5 per unit. An additional 5% incentive would be given on SGST..
The Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India (ALEAP) had previously been allocated 34.19 acres at Balabhadrapuram in East Godavari district. But, at its request, it was decided to allocate the association 31.77 acres at Koduru village in Anakapalli district, which would result in ₹305 crore investment and 6,000 job opportunities.
Coromandel International Limited would receive a 30% investment subsidy in 10 equal instalments, an electricity subsidy of ₹2 per unit for a maximum of 3.50 crore units annually for 10 years, and a 20% payroll cost subsidy. The company would invest ₹1,539 crore and generate 750 jobs, the Minister said.
Mr. Parthsarathy further said the Cabinet, to encourage entrepreneurs from the BC, SC, ST, and minority communities, people with disabilities, and women, decided to extend investment subsidy that was increased from 35% to 45%. Earlier, the subsidy had been provided only for manufacturing activities. It would now apply to transportation and logistics activities, with a maximum subsidy of ₹75 lakh. The subsidy would be applicable only to new investments.
Earlier, SC / ST industrialists had received a 50% subsidy on land value, up to a maximum of ₹2 lakh. This was now increased to 75%, with a maximum of ₹25 lakh, he said.
In the MSMEDP-4.0 Policy, women, BCs, and differently-abled individuals were granted an electricity subsidy of ₹1 per unit for six years, while SC/STs received ₹1.50 per unit for five years. Now, all categories would receive a subsidy of ₹1.50 per unit for five years. The SGST reimbursement incentive would be provided to all the categories for five years, the Minister said.
The Cabinet also approved the proposals to clear pending bills related to the works undertaken under the ‘Neeru Chettu’ during 2014-2019 and withdraw the disciplinary action against 386 engineers. The previous government had taken political actions by filing vigilance cases and withholding payments to the contractors, many of whom had since passed away. The Cabinet approved the payment of pending bills totaling ₹50.56 crore.
