AICC secretary Sampath Kumar reiterated the Revanth Reddy government’s commitment to implementing the SC sub-classification at any cost. He suggested that MRPS founder Manda Krishna Madiga refrain from agitating on this issue. Mr. Kumar stated that the government would take immediate action to implement the sub-classification once the one-man commission submits its report.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, he emphasised the need to implement the Supreme Court’s verdict on SC sub-classification, which he had stressed during a recent Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting.
“I reminded the PAC meeting that sub-classification of SCs is a core principle of the Congress party,” he said. The party high command would take action against those who oppose the sub-classification, including Chennur MLA Vivek Venkataswamy, he warned.
Mr. Kumar praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s efforts to implement the sub-classification, noting that he was the only Chief Minister to ensure the Apex Court delivered its judgment promptly. Kumar criticised the Opposition BRS, alleging that they had done nothing to implement the sub-classification. He added that BRS leaders ignored his request to take the Usha Mehra Commission report to Union government in New Delhi.
