Aero India: 180 BMTC buses to be deployed for seamless commute

With preparations in full swing for the 15th edition of Aero India 2025 to be held at the Yelahanka Air Force Station, authorities have announced a series of measures to ensure smooth traffic management and ease the commuting woes of visitors.

The Indian Air Force has taken 180 Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses on a casual contract to provide seamless connectivity to and from the venue.

“180 buses will be provided to the Aero India show as per the casual contract. This transport is arranged from a designated parking facility at GKVK for those arriving in private vehicles. From GKVK, BMTC buses will shuttle visitors to Yelahanka Air Force Station,” a BMTC official said.

The air show, set to take place from February 10 to 14, is expected to draw lakhs of attendees from across the country and abroad. Aero India air show will host a series of aerial displays and static exhibitions featuring advanced military aircraft and aerospace technology.

AC bus from 10 locations

Additionally, Aero India will operate special buses from 10 key locations across Bengaluru, including Kempegowda Bus Station (Majestic), Hebbal, Shivajinagar, Kengeri, ITPL, Banashankari BDA Complex, Vijayanagar TTMC, Orion Mall Rajajinagar, and Infosys Campus in Electronic City. These buses, including Volvo AC shuttles, aim to encourage more visitors to opt for public transport instead of private vehicles, thereby reducing congestion on Airport Road.

Residents have welcomed this initiative. “Every edition of Aero India brings traffic nightmares for those living in North Bengaluru. These dedicated buses will help prevent unnecessary congestion and make travel much easier,” Raghavendra M, a resident of Yelahanka, said.

Another city resident, Anjali Rao from Electronics City who plans to attend the event, said that the free shuttles will be beneficial for visitors who travel from the farther parts of the city. “It’s a great move, especially for those coming from other parts of the city. Not having to worry about transport to the venue will make the experience much more enjoyable,” she said.
