Madurai Police has denied permission to the Hindu Munnani which had planned to conduct a protest on February 4 regarding the Tirupparankundram issue in Madurai.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the police said that there was an issue between two groups and cases had been registered. Investigation was underway. There were at least five petitions pending before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court regarding the issue, the police said.
Under these circumstances, the police have denied permission to conduct the protest which had been planned for February 4. The police said that attempts were being made to mobilise people for the protest through social media.
Reminding the people that permission has been denied, the police urged the people not to participate. Appropriate action would be initiated against those persons who violated the order and attempted to conduct protest, the police said in the press release.
