The Prohibition Enforcement Wing arrested three men from Odisha on Sunday for allegedly smuggling and selling ganja in Ingur, under the jurisdiction of the Chennimalai police station near Perundurai in Erode district.
Acting on a tip-off, officers conducted surveillance near the Ingur flyover and intercepted two of them while one was allegedly handing a bag to the other. Upon questioning, they were identified as Mukesh Digal and Suraj Kumar, both from Odisha
Investigations revealed that Mukesh had allegedly smuggled five kg of ganja from Odisha and was in the process of delivering it when police intervened. Further inquiries led officers to his rented room in Ingur, where they found the third accused, Arun Digal. A search of the premises resulted in the seizure of 28 kg of ganja, bringing the total to 33 kg, valued at approximately ₹3.30 lakh.
All the three were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigations are under way.
