Over 50 injured in jallikattu organised at two villages

Over 50 persons were injured in the jallikattu organised at Puthupatti village in Tiruchi district and at Kattupatti village in Pudukottai district on Sunday.

The event at Puthupatti saw the release of 718 bulls with the number of participating tamers being 299.

Police sources said 43 persons were injured and three of them were referred to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Tiruchi for treatment. The remaining injured persons were treated as out-patients at the event venue.

The event organised at Kattupatti left 12 persons injured. As many as 540 bulls were released during the course of the event which lasted seven hours with the number of participating tamers being 300.

Six among the injured were referred to the hospital for treatment while six others were treated as out-patients at the event venue, the sources added.
