Sexual assault case: students did not attend school in Krishnagiri

The students of a middle school, where three teachers were arrested for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl, did not attend the school on Friday.

On Wednesday, three teachers of a panchayat union middle school were arrested for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old student of the school in Bargur in the district. Following the incident, holiday declared for the school on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, the school was reopened but parents did not send their children to school, where more than 140 students are studying.

The Education Department officials and police officials held talks with the parents and asked about their demands.

Education Department officials said that the parents sought transfer of all the teachers in the school and appointment of women teachers. They also demanded installation of CCTV cameras at the school entrance and premises for the protection of the students.

The officials assured them that their demands will be met and the school will be opened.
