63 students get placements

The placement cell of Sardar Raja Arts and Science College Vadakkenkulam, Tirunelveli, conducted on campus interview in association with Vertical Solutions and Unitech Plastic Limited, Chennai. Out of the 80 students who participated in the interview, 63 found placements. College chairman Jacob Raja issued the placement orders in the presence of Ramki and Balaji of HR of the book companies. Livingston, Convener of Placement Cell, had made the arrangements.

The Centre for Digital Learning at Sadakathullah Appa College, Tirunelveli, organised a faculty development programme (FDP) on Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate, from January 20 to 24. It was attended by faculty members from various institutions, who had hands-on training and in-depth sessions on Power BI. The participants engaged in interactive discussions, practical demonstrations, and collaborative learning experiences.

Kanimozhi’s advice to students

A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi, celebrated its golden jubilee on January 30. Kanimozhi, MP, inaugurated the event and laid the foundation stone for a new auditorium. The souvenir was released by Minister for Social Welfare and Women’s Rights Geetha Jeevan. Outstanding student achievers in sports and fine arts were honored by Minister for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Anitha Radhakrishnan and Mayor Jegan Periyasamy. Collector K.Elambahavath was present. In her address, Ms. Kanimozhi emphasised the impact of women’s education in broadening perspectives and recommended Periyar’s book Pen Yen Adimaiyaanal (Why women became slaves?) to encourage critical thinking on gender equality. She also highlighted Tamil heritage, referencing archaeological findings from Sivakalai, Thoothukudi, as compelling evidence of its rich history. Urging students to be fearless and ambitious, she encouraged them to “go forward, search, and conquer the world.”

NAAC team visit

NAAC Peer Team visited Holy Cross College, Nagercoil on January 23 and 24 for the V cycle of accreditation. Preethi Agarwal, former Vice Chancellor, G H Raisoni University, Maharashtra, was the chairperson. Begari Muniswamy of Andhra University, Visakhapatnam was the Member Coordinator and Surinder Kaur, Principal, Khalsa College for Women, Amritsar was the Member. The team evaluated the activities, welfare measures and infrastructure of the institution. They also evaluated the exhibits displayed by various clubs and committees and extension services.

Students of Pushpalata British International School, Tirunelveli, has registered remarkable achievements in the Cambridge Examinations. They brought laurels to the school with 5 OCLAs (Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards). Srijan Santhosh Grandai secured 3rd place in the World and earned High Achievement in IGCSE Coordinated Sciences (June 2024 series). Sanchitha Ravi received High Achievement in AL Accounting (November 2023 series). Natasha Roy was the topper in India in AL Business (November 2023 series). Maithrayi S M and Gianna Sherin were toppers in India in IGCSE English (June 2024 series).
