VELVOM’25 held
The Department of Management Studies of Velammal College of Engineering and Technology, Madurai, hosted VELVOM’25, an inter-collegiate management meet, on January 31. Over 400 students from 30 colleges across Tamil Nadu took part in the meet. The chief guest was M. Senthil Kumar of JioVio Healthcare, Madurai. There were a series of innovative and engaging events. The valedictory address was delivered by P. R. Ashok Kumar of Tamilnad Mercantile Bank, Thoothukudi. He distributed prizes to the winners.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of the college a two-day workshop on ‘Recent advances in RF, antennas and microwave technology.’ T. Ramprabhu of DRDO, Bengaluru, was the chief guest.
Seminar held

The Department of Economics of Vivekananda College, Thiruvedagam, Madurai, organised a seminar on ‘Changing scenario in labour force and employment in rural India: challenges and strategies’ on January 30 and 31. The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. P. Arunachalam, IIAS, Shimla. A panel discussion was conducted with the panelists being P. Ravichandran of GTN Arts College, Dindigul; P. Subramanian, Joint Commissioner of Labour; R. Mohan, BDO, Chellampatti block; S.Theenadalayan of The Madura College; and P.Azad from Kerala. A total of 57 research papers were presented.

Thiagarajar School of Management, Madurai, hosted StartupTN, by inaugurating TSM Incubation Centre. Sivaraja Ramanathan, Mission Director & CEO of Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, was the chief guest. In his address, he said getting into the startup journey required a completely different mindset – iit is not just about making money but about giving back to the community, with financial success following as a result. Mindset played a crucial role in entrepreneurship, he said. While the world has witnessed several industrial revolutions, the pace and competitiveness of changes today are unparalleled, he said and urged the students to embrace innovation, adaptability, and resilience in their entrepreneurial pursuits.
