A total of 268 individuals were arrested by the Cyberabad traffic police during the drunk-driving checks conducted on Friday.
The police said 223 two-wheelers, 10 three-wheelers, 33 four-wheelers and two trucks were seized during the drive.
Of those arrested, 35 individuals recorded an alarmingly high blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging from 200 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml.
All offenders were produced before the court for legal proceedings. The police have launched stringent enforcement against drunk driving and warned that individuals caught driving under the influence and causing fatal accidents will be charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, leading to a maximum penalty of ten years imprisonment along with fine.
