An 18-year-old girl was abducted in an autorickshaw when she was waiting outside the Kilambakkam bus terminus on Monday night and sexually assaulted. The Pallavaram All Women Police have filed a case and are investigating.
A senior official of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate said the girl, a native of West Bengal, was working in a house in Salem. She had boarded a bus in Salem to visit her relative’s house in Madhavaram, which arrived on Monday night. While she was waiting for a bus outside the Kilambakkam terminus to go to Madhavaram, the autorickshaw driver said he would drop her in Madhavaram. When she refused to enter the auto, the driver abducted her and within a few kilometres two persons got into the vehicle.
She was threatened with a knife and sexually assaulted in the moving auto which proceeded on GST Road and then Irumbuliyur Road. When she shouted for help, the nearby residents informed the police control room.
A police team from Tambaram gave a chase in the patrol vehicle but the autorickshaw fled into a narrow street in Nerkundram where they dropped the victim. She narrated the incident to an auto driver named S. Mohan of Triplicane who was passing through the street. He brought her to Madha Koil Street near Koyambedu where the patrol team rescued her.
Based on the details provided by the victim, a case has been filed in the Pallavaram All Women Police station. A search is on for the three accused persons.
