1,718 people received welfare assistance in four days in Makkaludan Mudhalvar camps, says Minister

Labour Welfare and Skill Development Minister C.V. Ganesan on Friday said that in the past four days, a total of 1,718 people received welfare assistance under the third phase of Makkaludan Mudhalvar special camps.

The third phase of the special camps was conducted from February 4 in the district at Attur, Thalaivasal, and Pethanaickenpalayam panchayat unions, and concluded on Friday.

The Minister participated in the camps held at Navakurucihi, Punalvasal, Deviyakurichi, Puliyunkurichi, and Unathur in the Thalaivasal panchayat union on Friday. The Minister received petitions from the public and distributed welfare assistance worth ₹24.68 lakhs to 439 beneficiaries.

Speaking at the camps, the Minister said that the Chief Minister was implementing various schemes for the benefit of the people. These included schemes like Naan Mudhalvan, Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam, and Pudhumai Penn Thittam.

More funds were allocated to the Agriculture Department, and subsidies were provided to farmers for buying agricultural equipment and loans for buying cattle and houses under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme. For the benefit of students coming to the school, the Chief Minister’s Breakfast scheme is being implemented. To reach the government schemes at the doorsteps of the people, the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme was implemented, the Minister added.

Stating that camps under the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme were held at 90 places in the district in the last four days, the Minister said that in the past three days alone, 4,085 petitions were received from the people, including petitions seeking old-age pension, patta, bank loans, and subsidies. In the past four days, assistance worth ₹1.55 crore was provided to 1,718 people on the spot after considering the petitions, the Minister added.

District Collector R. Brindha Devi and officials from 15 departments, including revenue, agriculture, and rural development, participated.
